Our 4th

Fourth of July has always been my 2nd most favorite holiday of the year! There's just something so nostalgic about the day. Like scenes from the movie Sandlot Kids. Neighborhood children running around, sparklers, pies, friends and neighbors sitting around laughing and drinking beers and lemonade, summer music fills the air, and of course it's nothing with out a little barbecue!

This year, like every year, we go down to Galveston to visit our friend's at their beach house. Being that Kev and I have the children situation to yours and mine and "their all ours" situation we're never too sure which children we'll have to share the holiday with. Usually my oldest two visit their father during July so it's been a couple years where we've not been together on the 4th. We usually have Kev's kids every other year to watch the 'works with. So for the first time in a long time it was just my 3 - Winter, Brighton, and Molly!

They had a blast! I really want them to have the fourth of July experience like I had growing up on many American Army bases. They played in the pool, made instant friends with neighborhood kids, pulled pranks, ate barbecue, played games, chased the ice cream truck, had snow cones, and watch the fireworks. When it was all time to leave and dry off from 5 hours of swimming, my youngest one said "Mom, we were just in the middle of having fun!" That made it all for me.
